CMF OBRA BLANCA
FORECAST
TRENDS IN COLOR, MATERIALS, AND FINISHES FOR ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN IN MEXICO

A biannual interdisciplinary project in collaboration with CMF experts and supported by architecture, interior design, and design firms from different regions of the country, aimed at establishing national inspiration guidelines that can be used as a standard for the selection of finishes, materials, and colors, enriching and encouraging the development of better projects in Mexico.

What is CMF?

In architecture and interior design, CMF (Color, Material, Finish) is a fundamental tool in defining the sensory and aesthetic identity of spaces. Its application allows for the creation of harmonious and visually appealing environments by considering how color, materials, and finishes influence the perception and experience of those who inhabit them. This study analyzes textures, durability, and sustainability in order to select appropriate materials for flooring, walls, furniture, and accessories—taking into account both global and local trends, and anticipating the colors, materials, and finishes that will shape the future of design.

For Obra Blanca, staying at the forefront is essential. With this in mind, it organizes these multidisciplinary exercises every two years, supported by experts in the CMF methodology and by architecture and interior design firms representing different regions of the country.

CMF Forecast
Obra Blanca 2027

This year, the CMF Forecast Obra Blanca 2027 was carried out across three regions in partnership with The Color Authority —a company specialized in CMF— and with the support of 20 architecture and interior design firms, consolidating a multidisciplinary dialogue that enriches the outlook on what’s ahead. The working sessions in Monterrey, Mérida, and Mexico City made it possible to identify emerging patterns, reinterpret global references from a local perspective, and translate concepts into material palettes that reflect Mexico’s contemporary identity. The resulting trends from this exercise will be presented in October at Espacio Obra Blanca during the exhibition.

CMF Forecast Obra Blanca 2025

The CMF Obra Blanca 2025 Forecast, developed in collaboration with Code Studio and supported by 20 architecture and interior design firms from different regions of the country, brings together the voices of various participants into a set of trends that propose guidelines to enrich the design process of projects in Mexico.

CMF Dynamics Obra Blanca 2025

From this first initiative emerged the trends Slow Burn, Origin, and Retrofuture, which were reviewed the following year during the CMF Dynamics by another group of creative teams composed of 19 architecture and interior design firms, continuing the goal of fostering ongoing creativity in the selection of finishes, materials, and colors for the development of more and better projects.
